Planet Explore Solar System Gemstone Mining and Dig Kit
We recently put the Planet Explore Dig Kit to the test to see if it could actually hold a child's attention for more than five minutes. This 2026 edition offers a tactile way to blend planetary science with the excitement of discovery, providing a much-needed break from tablet screens.
Performance & Build Quality
The kit is impressively well-structured, featuring durable digging tools that hold up well under the pressure of breaking through the planetary material. The inclusion of eight unique planet badges adds a layer of collectible quality that makes the final excavation feel rewarding and complete.
Day-to-Day Experience
The process is straightforward: soaking the planet models makes the initial excavation much easier for younger kids, preventing frustration during the mining process. We found that brushing away the dust to reveal the hidden gems was the highlight, turning a simple craft into a genuine science lesson.
This kit is perfect for parents of elementary-aged children who are fascinated by space or enjoy hands-on, methodical activities.
Final Thoughts
The Planet Explore Dig Kit earns a solid 5/5 rating for its ability to combine education and entertainment so effectively. It is a fantastic value at $34.90, offering a tangible connection to our solar system that keeps kids curious and occupied.
